Be immovable...
im·mov·a·ble -
Not able to be moved
(of a person) Not yielding to argument or pressure
(esp. of a principle) Fixed or unchangeable
What does it really mean to remain immovable?
In 1 Corinthians 15 Paul was covering the topic of the ressurection of the dead, a topic often debated and assumed by much of the world as a fairy tale or something that we create to make death easier to deal with. In an age not long after Christ has been raised from the dead there were many debates and disputes taking place about whether or not the ressurection of the dead was going to take place and as Paul is dealing with this issue he lays out a wonderful foundation for us to rest our hope on! That the reality is that Christ will return for his church and that without this blessed event our preaching and faith is entirely empty.
Beloved, if you are not living today with eternity in mind then the "faith" that you claim to depend in is totally empty. So many times we allow the cares and concern of others, this world, or even our ambitions and goals to shake us out of God's intended purpose for our lives. I believe many today are living not even with a clear understanding of what God's purpose is for their lives. For those of you in that position let me give you the purpose of God for your life right now....you ready.....here it is!
1. Give your life to Christ to security your eternity with Him.
2. Take as many people with you as you can!!!
Yet many of us miss this, we want redemption but not the responsibility of being used to lead others into that same redemption and so with the cares of the world, life, and just the presure of everything else going on we miss the plan and will of God for our lives and lead lives that simply are not pleasing to God.
The main definition of immovable that really appealed to me was the 2nd that I posted above....Not yeilding to argument or pressure.
Listen friends when you set your sights on an unshakable hope that this world is not your home and that when judgement day comes all that is going to matter is hearing the words "Well Done" you will not be so easily swayed to yield to the arguments of others or the pressures of this life.
I challenge you today to BE IMMOVABLE, fix your sights on eternity and live as if eternity is counting on you to bring people with you. Leave a legacy that points not to all of the good works that you have done but leave a legacy that points to Jesus. Friends its in this that we find God's will for our lives, its in this that we find ourselves steadfast, immovable, always abounding in His work.
I ask you what things in your life do you need to lay down for the sake of His work. Please don't just call Him Savior, thats selfish...if eternity is the focus then you must also call Him Lord and do as His Word commands!!
1 Corinthians 15:58 "Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord."
